Javier Bardem in Biutiful
"Beautiful" indeed. This still alone is enough to further peak my anticipation of Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu's new film, Biutiful. From the director of masterful films, Amores Perros and 21 Grams, this is his first linear narrative, which draws personal intrigue. However, in viewing the stills, it is the cinematography that really has captured my visceral attention. Notice the depth of focus in this shot - wow - it nearly separates the image into two distinct planes. I can only imagine the poetic or narrative significance within the context of the film, but as a stand alone image it offers an intense solitude.
